Dr. Joe Kovach is President of KoMotion Technologies Ltd., an engineering consulting organization focused on motion and control technologies with emphasis on new product innovation for major industrial firms. His firm has collaborated on several government contracts in the areas of advanced manufacturing technologies (AmTech), high efficiency pump-motor development, and the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP). Additionally, KoMotion works closely with private equity firms to identify strategic investment opportunities in the motion and control field.
Prior to forming his company six years ago, he held several V.P. positions at Parker Hannifin including V.P. of Technology & Innovation for Parker’s Hydraulic Group, with responsibility for new product development leading to the creation of several new business units and divisions. Kovach was previously employed by the Eaton Corp., where he led a corporate R&D Department dedicated to the development and production implementation of advanced manufacturing processes.
Kovach has more than 35 years of practical hands-on experience coupled with a strong theoretical background ranging from advanced aerospace components, to trucks and automotive engines and drivetrains, construction and agricultural equipment, marine systems, exoskeleton and medical device technology, alternative energy, and industrial automation. He received his PhD from Case Western Reserve University in Mechanical Engineering and holds numerous patents in hydraulics, manufacturing technology, and powertrains.
